Historic Fincastle Inc. is presenting a new event for this summer – “Living History at The Early Cabin.” Revolutionary Era interpreters (Jeff Briggs and Company) will be set up in the side yard of the Early Cabin on Murray Street in Fincastle on Saturday, June 24 at 10 a.m. to demonstrate musket ball making, sewing, toys and perhaps cooking.
They will have a fire where they will demonstrate the making of musket balls and maybe some cooking information. They will have examples of 18th century toys for young and old to try out. Their seamstress will demonstrate sewing techniques for authentic 18th century clothing. Jeff and his men will demonstrate and discuss how the soldiers lived and fought. “Mrs. Early” will also make an appearance sharing how early settlers lived on the frontier. There is no charge for this event.
Historic Fincastle Inc. has been busy around town. There are six new pots of flowers around town that are sponsored by HFI. They are located at The Early Cabin, The Wysong Blacksmith Shop, the Chamber of Commerce building, yhe corner of Church Street and East Main Street, and the corner of Water Street and East Main Street.
