Heath Andrews struck out 13 Vikings to lead the James River baseball team to a big win over Northside last week. The Knights won 6-1 at Northside.
Andrews allowed just two hits and two walks while fanning a baker’s dozen. Northside’s only run was unearned as Heath went six full innings and threw 87 pitches. Zeal Hammons pitched a clean seventh to finish the game, striking out two.
On offense, Andrews helped his own cause with three hits and two runs batted in. Taylor Wilson had two hits, including a double, and drove in three for the Knights. Hunter Mays and Colin Cook, the first two hitters in the order, set the table with two hits each and Cook scored two runs.
With the win the Knights improved to 2-3 on the season. They were scheduled to play at Floyd County Tuesday and home against Glenvar on Thursday.
