Lord Botetourt’s competition cheer team tool first place in the 3A/4A division in Battle at Byrd Cheer 4-a-Cure competition Saturday at William Byrd High School. The LB team was competing against nine other teams in the division—Brookville, Rustburg, Bassett, Broadway, Cave Spring, Christiansburg, Dinwiddie, Hidden Valley and Staunton River High Schools. According to the judges, it was an extremely tight race in this division. Proceeds from the event go to the Vinton Relay for Life to support cancer research. Members of the Lord Botetourt team include Samarah Alam, Abby Austin, Zoe Bruffey, Brianna Caldwell, Aubrey Clark, Carly Crawford, Savannah Day, Regan Goodman, Katelyn Harris, Brooke Kelly, Mikayla McCray, Mary Elizabeth Morejon, Kayla Murrell, Allyson Norwinski, Logan Olson, Kaeleigh Shutts, Grace Spangler, Grace Tucker, Kaitlynn Tucker and Alyssa Woodward.
