Botetourt recreation softball teams are playing in the Roanoke Area Youth Softball Association (RAYSA) tournaments at the James I. Moyer Complex in Salem and Darrell Shell Park in Roanoke County this week. Action began on Sunday and RAYSA has tournaments for 10U, 13U and 17U teams.

In the 10U tournament Botetourt will be playing in the winners’ bracket final tonight at the Moyer Complex. Botetourt opened with an 11-3 win over South County on Sunday at Moyer, then defeated Vinton, 14-2. Botetourt will play Salem tonight at Moyer and the winner advances to the championship game Thursday at Darrell Shell Park.

In the 13U tournament Botetourt beat Franklin County, 9-8, in Sunday’s opening game in Salem. On Monday Botetourt lost to South County, 7-6, to fall to the losers’ bracket. Botetourt was scheduled to play Clifton Forge in an elimination game Tuesday with the winner advancing to play the winner of a game between GSA and North Roanoke. The championship game is also at Darrell Shell Thursday.

Botetourt does not have a team in the U17 tournament, which includes just Vinton, South County and Franklin County. The championship in that tournament is at the Moyer Complex tonight.
