• Buchanan Elementary School Backpack Buddy Peanut Butter Drive – It is almost time for back to school and the Town of Buchanan Special Events Committee is asking for assistance in its effort to collect jars of peanut butter to give to the Buchanan Elementary School Backpack Buddy Program. Jars of peanut butter may be dropped off at the Buchanan Town Hall during regular hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Buchanan Christmas Eve Luminaries – The Town of Buchanan invites you to be part of Buchanan’s annual Christmas Eve Luminaries project by making a donation to help purchase candles. Donations of any size are welcomed and will help continue to make Buchanan known as the “town that glows with love.” All donations will be combined to purchase 10-hour votive candles. Individuals, families, churches, businesses and civic groups are invited to be part of this unique Buchanan tradition. The town is also collecting one gallon water and milk jugs, about 800 more jugs are needed. Donations may be dropped off at the Buchanan Town Hall during regular business hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Second Sunday Dinner Curbside Service – Enjoy a home-cooked meal on the go Sunday, Aug. 9 from 12 noon until 1 p.m. from the Historic Wilson Warehouse. The meal consists of pan-fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, biscuit, bottled water and dessert for $12.
Proceeds help preserve the Historic Wilson Warehouse. Orders must be placed by Friday, Aug. 7. To place an order email hlgleason1@gmail.com or leave a message at 540-597-2399.
