The Lord Botetourt boys have a busy basketball schedule this week with three games in five days, including back-to-back games Friday and Saturday.
The Cavaliers were looking to snap a four-game losing streak when they traveled to William Byrd on Tuesday, but results were too late for publication. This weekend they have two home games, hosting William Fleming on Friday night and Jefferson Forest on Saturday afternoon. Game time for the JF game is 1 p.m. for the jayvee team with the varsity to follow.
The Cavaliers opened their Blue Ridge District season last week with games against Franklin County and Staunton River. They opened the week with a 63-56 loss to the Eagles in Rocky Mount.
“It was a hard-fought game for both teams,” said LB coach Josh Aliveto. “We shot better overall as a team than we had in the previous couple of games. However, we did have a cold period in the second quarter that ended up being the difference in this ball game.”
Landen Gray led the Cavs with 12 points. Both Brady Kish and Landon Hayes had 10 points each.
Last Friday LB hosted Staunton River and dropped a close one, 47-42.
“I was proud of our defensive effort for the most part,” said Aliveto. “However, we struggled to find our rhythm on offense.”
Hayes and Jairdan Pennix led the LB scoring with nine points each.
Next week’s schedule finds the Cavaliers at home with Northside on Tuesday and at Salem a week from tonight, on Jan. 21.
