The Lord Botetourt baseball team will be in Blacksburg today for one of three games this week. The Cavaliers were scheduled to host William Fleming on Tuesday and Northside comes to Daleville on Friday.
Botetourt is 5-5 after splitting two games last week. On April 14 the Cavaliers defeated Staunton River, 11-6, in Daleville. Freshman Swisher Cook relieved starter Kobe Hairston in the second inning and pitched four and two-thirds solid innings to get the win. Swisher allowed just one hit and one earned run while striking out four Eagles.
Offensively, Chase Peck had three hits and drove in three runs and Beau Lonker was three-for-three with two RBIs.
On Friday the Cavs played William Byrd in Vinton and dropped their first Blue Ridge District game of the season, 7-1. The Cavaliers managed just three hits, one of which was a home run by Brady Kish.
Garrett Lonker got the start on the mound and took the loss, allowing four runs in four innings before Jackson Crenshaw finished up. LB is 2-1 in the district with the loss.
