The Lord Botetourt football team is back on the gridiron this Friday after an early bye week. The Cavaliers will be at home for a 7 p.m. game against Magna Vista.
The Warriors are off to a good start to the season. They opened with a 41-12 win over Rockingham County, and last week they hammered Martinsville, 48-14.
“Magna Vista is athletic and physical,” said LB coach Nick Leftwich. “They’re the defending region champs coming off back-to-back wins.”
Lord Botetourt comes in at 1-1. After losing their opener to Rye Cove the Cavs bounced back with a 38-12 win over Rustburg. With the early opener LB got an early bye week, and it was probably a good time to have one considering last week’s unusually hot temperatures.
“It was a good bye week, especially with the weather effecting practices,” said Leftwich. “We concentrated on ourselves and got better at what we do.”
