RADFORD — The City of Radford is tied for being the second fastest-growing area in the state, according to U.S. Census Bureau data released Thursday.

From July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013, Radford’s population grew by 2.7 percent, tying with the City of Fredericksburg as the second-fastest growing area. Loudoun County was again the fastest growing area, with its population growing 3.7 percent during the same period.

The cities of Lexington and Manassas tied for fourth with 2.6 percent population growth.

Fairfax County is the most populous county in Virginia, with 1,130,924 residents.

The information is based on annual population estimates for each of the nation’s counties, county equivalents, metropolitan areas and micropolitan areas since the 2010 Census and up to July 1, 2013.
