Presentation this Sunday at Pleasant Hill Baptist

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will be hosting a presentation by the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office on church safety immediately following worship service on Sunday, November 13. This will be a very informative talk concerning safety “do’s and don’ts” during emergency situations. Sgt. T.A. Wright will be the presenter. Please plan to attend worship service and then stay for this very informative talk.

Pleasant Hill Baptist has a new program just for kids! It’s called BLAST! (Believe Learn and Seek Truth). It is open to small folks ages 6 yrs. to 12 yrs. They will meet every other Sunday downstairs. The class will be led by Sandra Krochta and they will have a great time learning without that preacher guy doing all the talking!

We will dismiss them from the sanctuary during the Welcome & Announcement time. The dates for the rest of this year are: Nov. 6 & 20; and Dec. 4 & 18.

Pleasant Hill Baptist will be hosting a Paint Project on Nov. 12. Reservations are required. Call 540-581-5852 to sign up! Wear clothes that are appropriate for painting!

Pleasant Hill Baptist is hosting a new class: “How Firm is Your Foundation?” – A Biblical View of the Science of Origins – A three-part teaching session led by Rev. Dr. David Tozar, Ph.D. This is a free event and open to students grade 6-12, their parents, grandparents, friends and family.

Sessions are:

Friday, Nov. 11 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 13 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Free lunch at Solomon’s Closet

Solomon’s Closet in Buchanan will have its Second Saturday Free Lunch this Saturday, Nov. 12, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.  Soup, desserts and water will be provided by Mill Creek Baptist Youth Group.

The Bridge Christian Academy will have an information table set up 11-1 and do kids crafts at 11.

The Thrift Store will be open an added day this week, Thursday, Nov. 10, 12-5 p.m., for shopping.

 

Fall Bazaar at Ebenezer UMC

Ebenezer United Methodist Church will have its Fall Bazaar on Saturday, Nov.19, from 8 a.m. till 1 p.m. There will be a bake sale, crafts, sausage biscuits, sausage gravy, coffee and, at 11 a.m., hot dogs and chili.  Ebenezer is located at 85 Nace Road, Troutville.

 

Mount Olivet Christmas Bazaar

A Christmas Bazaar will be held at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, 26310 Lee Highway, Buchanan, on Saturday, Nov. 19, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Buy Christmas gifts, have breakfast and lunch, and enjoy the fun and fellowship.

 

Eagle Rock Clothes Closet November hours

The Clothes Closet at Eagle Rock United Methodist Church will be open Saturday, Nov. 12, 9 a.m.-noon. Free clothing will be available to men, women and children. The Clothes Closet is a ministry of the Eagle Rock United Methodist Charge. For more information, call Brenda Spangler, 884-2503.

 

Springwood Food Pantry open on November 19

The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on Saturday, Nov. 19 from 9-10:30 a.m. The pantry is located at 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan. This pantry is a drive-through pantry, so clients may remain in their cars and volunteers will load the food for them. The pantry is open each month on the third Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. It is a partner with Feeding America Southwest Virginia and anyone in need of food is invited to participate.

 

Lapsleys Run Homecoming, Church Anniversary

Lapsleys Run Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Harvest Homecoming and 154th Church Anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 13, at 11 a.m.  The Rev. David W. Halsey Sr., pastor, will be the speaker for the occasion.  Dinner will be served after the morning service, but there will be no afternoon services.
Regular services are held on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.  Everyone is invited to attend these and all services at Lapsleys Run Baptist Church at 608 Zion Hill Road, Fincastle.

 

Galatia EPC has new pastor

Galatia EPC, 78 Gala Loop Road, Eagle Rock, is hosting a “Meet & Greet” for the new pastor, the Rev. Emily Hook, on Sunday, Nov. 13, from 4-6 p.m. at Galatia. Light refreshments will be served.  All are invited to attend and welcome Rev. Hook and her family to Galatia EPC and the Eagle Rock area.

 

Springwood Baptist special November events

Springwood Baptist Church invites the public to the morning service on Sunday, Nov. 20, and the Thanksgiving meal afterward. Bring a vegetable and dessert to share and enjoy fellowship.

All are also invited to an evening service on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. Mike Anderson, pastor of Springwood Baptist, will preach this service at Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church, 3936 Beaver Dam Road, Buchanan.
