River Scott Lawson, 25, of Troutville, passed away Friday, November 4, 2022.

River was born in Roanoke April 11, 1997 and lived in Troutville all of his life.  He was the son of J. Scott and Melissa Milliner Lawson. River attended Lord Botetourt High School and was an accomplished welder and was currently working at Affordable & Dependable Auto Services. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on cars, and hanging out with his family, friends, and especially his chocolate lab, Daisy Mae.

River was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Cash, Sr. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers, Kristopher Lawson (Rachel Grubb) of Troutville, Nathan Winfield of Troutville, and Jade Williams of Botetourt; sisters, Jessica (Charles) St. Clair of Roanoke, Serenity Almeida, Justice Winfield, and Bailey Wolfe, all of Troutville, and Angel Barlow of Beckley, W.Va.; grandmothers, Betty Cash and Mildred Lawson, both of Troutville; and closest friends, Austin Parkhurst, Luke Brickey, Michael Walters, Luke Taylor, Tanner Underwood, and Trey Smith.

A celebration of River’s life will be at 2 p.m. Friday, November 11 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road Daleville with the Rev. Steven McChesney officiating. Burial will be in St.Clair Family Cemetery, Laymantown Road.  River’s family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
