Doris Montgomery Doss & Michael Rhoderick Doss

Doris Montgomery Doss, 81, passed from this life to the next on May 14, 2021, while surrounded by her family in Winter Haven, Fla.

Doris Mae was born in Buchanan, a twin with brother David Rae Montgomery. Doris grew up on the family farm and graduated from Buchanan High School and then Phillips Business College in Lynchburg where she met and married Michael Rhoderick “Roddy” Doss, who preceded her in death on May 2, 2021 after 60 years of marriage.

They lovingly raised three children, Brian (Kim) Doss of Apopka, Greg (Kim) Doss of Tallahassee, and Karen (Jamie) Baillie of Seminole, Fla. They will also be lovingly remembered by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Bryant, Margaret (Jim) Nathe, Grace (Walter) Alexander, and Sara (Donald) Britt; and sister-in-law, Gwen Montgomery.

Doris was also preceded in death by her parents, Paxton, Sr. and Ella Montgomery; brothers, Paxton, Jr., Harry, David and recently Charles and sister Betty; brothers-in-law, Douglas Bryant and Kenneth May.

Roddy was preceded in death by his parents, David and Mabel Doss, and sister, Pat Morcom of Lynchburg. He is survived by his brother, David (Debbie) Doss of Concord, Va.

An interment service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 23 in Fairview Cemetery in Buchanan.

    Margaret ,Grace and Sarah… I am so sorry for the loss of your family members. Doris and her husband . May the God of all comfort give each of you peace and soften your pain during this difficult time. Also. May the promise of a resurrection give you hope that you will see them all again.
