Botetourt County 4-H Shooting Education Club member Jacob VanNess has qualified as a member of the Virginia 4-H State Shotgun Team. Jacob started in seventh and climbed his way up to third, which made him eligible for the team.
The National 4-H Shooting Education Championship event is held annually in Grand Island, Neb., and is scheduled this year for June.
The team is awaiting confirmation that this event will take place as planned. If that approval is given, the team will be seeking donations and/or sponsorships to help send them to Nebraska. Anyone interested in donating to the team or serving as a sponsor may contact Tyler Painter at 473-8260 for information.
