Lynsey Allie is new director of Botetourt Historical Society

The Botetourt County Historical Society & Museum has hired Lynsey Crantz Allie as the new director.

Allie, a Botetourt native, graduated from Lord Botetourt High School in 2004 and went on to get her BA in History from Roanoke College in 2008. Later, she attended Clayton State University and received her Master’s Degree in Archival Studies. She has her certification through the Academy of Certified Archivists. Allie also sits on the board of directors for Roanoke Valley Preservation Foundation and Kimoyo, Ltd.

Weldon Martin retired as director as of December 31, 2020. He had served 16 years as a volunteer executive director since the death of former Director Emily Honts in 2003. He is currently the treasurer and serves on the board of directors. Previously, Martin was secretary of the Hsitorifcal Society, a teacher and principal at Breckinridge Elementary School.
