Tony Clarke Garman, 84, of Botetourt County, departed this life on Thursday, March 30, 2023.
Tony was born in the Sinking Creek Valley of Craig County. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Sergeant at time of discharge. He was a machinist who valued a strong work ethic and retired as a mold maker from Plastics One.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Richard and Claudine Garman; his brother-in-law, Gene Smith; and nephew, Timothy Smith.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley Keffer Garman; his daughters, Mitzi Webster and her husband David of Blue Ridge, and Gail Garman and her husband Robert Wright of Buchanan; two grandchildren, Carly Webster and Ethan Webster of Blue Ridge; sister, Linda Smith of New Castle; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was a member of Bonsack United Methodist Church. Tony was a quiet person and loved his family. He also enjoyed nature, hunting, and gardening. Tony was always willing to help family, friends, and neighbors with projects and he had the ability to fix anything. In addition to helping those he knew, he was passionate about helping others by donating blood at the Red Cross.
The family wishes to thank Carilion Clinic Hospice – Roanoke for their compassion in caring for Tony.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 7, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at Oakey’s East Chapel. A celebration of Tony’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, at Oakey’s East Chapel, 5188 Cloverdale Road, with Pastor Randy McMillen officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Carilion Clinic Hospice, 1615 Franklin Road, Roanoke, 24016 or Bonsack United Methodist Church, 4493 Bonsack Road, Roanoke, 24012.
