Elsie Mae Thompson Guilliams, 89, passed away on May 28, 2025, surrounded by her family following a period of declining health.
Elsie was born in Daleville and spent her adult life in Daleville, Oriskany, and Troutville in Botetourt County.
Elsie was married for 68 years to her beloved husband Gene Guilliams, raised her three children at home, followed by working more than 25 years at the Daleville Post Office until retirement. She enjoyed numerous hobbies, including gardening, cooking, and shopping. Elsie always enjoyed time with family, and typically served wonderful spreads of food at various holiday gatherings. She also treasured her time spent at the farm in Oriskany. Her independent spirit allowed her to care for Gene for several years prior to his death, and to live by herself until very recently.
Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Gene; and is survived by her son, Gary Guilliams (wife Karen) of Troutville; her daughter, Sue Cheek of Huntsville, Ala.; her daughter, Dawn Biscotte (husband Mike) of Roanoke; her many dearest grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Gray Griffin of Troutville.
