Historic Fincastle Inc. will launch a new lecture series later this month aimed at highlighting stories from the area’s past.
The series, titled “History in Our Own Backyard,” will begin June 30 with a presentation on “The Historic Stoner House and the Miracle Wheat.” The talk is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Big Spring Classroom along the trail near Breckinridge Elementary School. Parking will be available near the classroom, with the gate on Jefferson Street unlocked for attendees.
According to Historic Fincastle, the presentation will focus on the historic Stoner House and the wheat crop produced on the farm known as “Miracle Wheat.”
The program will be presented by Ed Holt, the great-grandson of Kenton Ballard Stoner Sr., who will share the story of his family and its connection to the property.
Historic Fincastle plans to sponsor additional programs in the “History in Our Own Backyard” series throughout the remainder of 2026.
