Rain slowed the march of youngsters who came to the Buchanan Town Park for the annual Botetourt Children’s Fishing Carnival Saturday.

As the morning rain gave way to only cloudy skies, though, the number of youngsters and families stopping by kept growing. The James River was not very cooperative. While the water was up slightly, it was brown with muddy runoff from the rains that kept cropping up the previous two weeks. Still, youngsters got to fish for trout in the two water tanks that were split between the youngest and older children; plus, there were lots of other activities and games for the kids.
