Gardening Basics for Kids

Sat, April 22, 10-11:30am, Fincastle Library

Learn the life cycle and parts of a plant, and the importance of pollinators in the growing process. Recommended for ages 6-11.

 

Self-Defense 

April 22 & 23 and May 20 & 21, 2-3pm

Buchanan – Bujinkan Dojo Studio (next to library)

Join this 4-part series to learn awareness and basic self-defense with instructor Joseph Rae. Wear comfortable clothes/shoes and bring water. For adults 18+. Space is limited. Call 540-928-3005 to register.

 

Adopt a Pet from RCACP

Sat., April 22, 10am-2pm, Eagle Rock Library

The Regional Center for Animal Care and Protection (RCACP) will bring its mobile unit with cats and dogs available for adoption. Visit with the animals, find your next best animal friend, and learn more about how RCACP does and how you can help.

 

Meet the Town of Buchanan Mayor

Mon., April 24, 4-6pm, Buchanan Library

Grab some free coffee and get to know Tristan Harris, the new Town of Buchanan mayor, in this informal meet-and-greet.

 

Building Resumes for Teens

Thu., April 20, 4-5pm, Buchanan Library

Thu., May 4, 4-5pm, Eagle Rock Library

If you’re a teen looking for a summer job, take advantage of this opportunity to get professional help creating a resume. The session also includes tips for successfully completing applications and acing the interview.

 

Computer Basics

Mondays 11am-1pm, Eagle Rock Library

Tuesdays 1-3pm, Blue Ridge Library

Get step-by-step instructions in basic computer skills. Join any class in the series, or take all four. 1) Getting Started, 2) Text, Files and Printing, 3) Word Processing, 4) Internet and Email. Space is limited; call 540-928-2900 to register.
