Limited Botetourt track team runs at Knights’ Invitational; River will run at Cosmopolitan Meet this weekend

The Lord Botetourt track team competed in the annual Knights’ Invitational at Cave Spring High School last Saturday. The Cavaliers had a light squad due to prom being scheduled last weekend.

Natalie Mullins took a first place in the girls’ pole vault for LB while Louis Frederickson took a second in the boys’ pole vault. Mullins also took fifth in the 300 hurdles while Elana Preston was fifth in the triple jump. Scoring with sixth places were Khyler Hambrick-King in the 100 hurdles, Cora Clark in the 300 hurdles, and Anne Thorne in the 1,600.

This Saturday the Cavs will split up the team with some going to the Dogwood Festival at the University of Virginia and others running in a meet in Christiansburg.

The James River track team will compete in the annual Cosmopolitan Club Track Meet at William Fleming High School this weekend. Events are scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m. and Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.

The Knights hosted a meet with Three Rivers teams last week. First place winners included Denver Rinehart in the 100 and 200 girls’ sprints, Samaya Osborne in the girls’ shot put and Jack Beheler in the discus.

River competed in the Knights’ Invitational last Saturday at Cave Spring High School. For the girls, Rinehart was second in the 200, third in the 100 and ran on the state qualifying 4×100 relay team with Mirai Burton, Maddie Davidson and Kendall Childs. They took third.

Childs finished fourth in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump. Davidson was sixth in the 800, Burton was seventh in the 200 and eighth in the 100 and Maren Pauley was seventh in the 1,600.

In the field events Osborne was fifth in the shot put and sixth in the discus. Brianna Petty was eighth in the discus.

For the boys, Beheler won the discus and Ashton Orange took fourth. Orange was also sixth in the shot put.

Ryder was second in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump for River.
