Lishy’s Gift hosted a community barbeque dinner at the Fincastle Fire Station last week to honor Botetourt County’s first responders in recognition of the National Day of Remembrance and Service, which was observed the day prior on September 11. The barbeque was provided by Seventy8 BBQ.
The dinner welcomed first responders and community members for an evening of appreciation, food, and connection.
Lishy’s Gift, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, provides support for young adults between the ages of 18 and 30 in the Roanoke Valley who have been diagnosed with cancer. The organization will host its 7th Annual Golf Tournament on Friday, October 3, at Botetourt Golf & Swim Club — the first time the event has been held at that venue.
In anticipation of the tournament and in the spirit of neighborliness, Lishy’s Gift organized the BBQ as a way to connect with the local community and express appreciation for those who serve.
The evening brought out a strong turnout of local first responders, families, and supporters, all gathered in recognition of service and in memory of the lives honored on 9/11.
