Local girls win gold medals in commonwealth basketball

Several local girls were on basketball teams that won the gold medal in the recent Commonwealth games in Lynchburg.

Lord Botetourt rising juniors Gracie Huffard and Grayson Alfano played for the BRHHM 11/12G team that won their division. Game were played at Liberty University.

The BRHHM 9/10G team also won the gold. LB rising junior Taylor Orange played on that team along with Abby Kingery, a rising sophomore at LB, and Caitlin Canada, who will be a sophomore at James River this fall.

The teams were coached by Damon Johnson and Autumn Brown.
