Stonegate wins RVAA city-county meet, Zeidan takes five first gold for RM team

The Read Mountain Muskies finished fifth in the City-County Swim Meet last weekend.

Stonegate Swim Club of Salem won the annual Duane-Whitenack City-County Swim Meet at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center last weekend. The two-day meet included a dozen Roanoke Valley Aquatic Association teams.

Botetourt County had three teams in the meet. Read Mountain finished fifth overall while Ashley Plantation was sixth and Limestone Park was 11th.

For Read Mountain, Angelina Zeidan took five first gold places to lead the Muskies. Angelina was first gold in the 17-18 year-old Backstroke, Freestyle, Butterfly, Breaststroke and Individual Medley.

Adeline Causey took three first golds in the girls 6-and-under class. She won the 25 Free, 25 Fly and 25 Breast.

Juliana Bleecker won first gold in the 50 Back and 100 IM and other first gold winners included Ridlee King in the 6-and-under girls 25 Back and Jocelyn Stark in the 11-12 50 Breast.

For Ashley Plantation, Ben Williams won three first golds in boys 6-and-under, taking the 25 Free, 25 Fly and 25 Breast. Sydney Wilson won the 50 Fly in the 19-24 women’s class and Laura Kate Jennings won the 50 Fly in the 25-39 class. The Stingrays also won the Free and Medley relays in the 9-10 division.

Limestone Park’s Austin Nielsen won two first golds, taking the 100 IM and 50 Breast in the men’s 17-18 division. Kadyn Hershey won the 25 Back in the 6-and-under class.
