The Blue Ridge District golf tour was scheduled to visit Blue Hills on Tuesday for the fourth match of the regular season. The Lord Botetourt golfers were tied for second place prior to that match.
Coming into the week Franklin County leads the district with a three-round team score of 771. LB is just 15 strokes behind at 786 but only four strokes ahead of William Byrd, who was at 790. Those three are in the running for the season title as Northside was well behind at 846, Staunton River had 973 and William Fleming does not have a team.
Last week the tour stopped at Hanging Rock and Byrd picked up 10 strokes on the leaders. The Terriers shot 146 for nine holes while Botetourt and Franklin County tied for second at 156 each.
Botetourt’s Alisa Davidova was medalist at Hanging Rock with a four-under-par score of 32 and teammate Garrett Honts was second with 35. Those two are one-two in the individual season standings. Also scoring for LB were Cole Cecil with a 42 and Kennedy Carpenter at 47.
The Cavaliers will host Blacksburg for a non-district match today at the Botetourt Golf & Swim Club. Next week the BRD tour wraps up with a match at Ole Monterey on Monday and Mariner’s Landing on Tuesday. The district tournament is September 23 at the Botetourt Golf & Swim Club.
