Faye Naomi Jones Lyle, 84, of Botetourt County, passed away on April 6, 2026, surrounded by family after fighting with determination and grace.
Faye was born on April 29, 1941, in Springwood, the daughter of Sam Jones and Louise Crawford Jones. She graduated from Buchanan High School in 1959.
Faye married Carroll Lyle on September 21, 1963, at Melrose Baptist. Their loving marriage lasted 62 years as they built a beautiful family together. Faye’s pride and joy were her two sons, five grandchildren, and three great-granddaughters. She loved and treated so many others like family as well– the list could go on. Above all, Faye taught her family what it truly means to love unconditionally and to live with a servant’s heart. She led by example, always putting others first, offering kindness without hesitation, and showing up for those she loved in both big and small ways. Faye especially loved cooking, gardening, flowers, sunshine, spending time with friends and family, praising the Lord, and sitting on the porch watching birds.
Faye was a member of Belmont Baptist. Her faith was the foundation of her life. She found joy and peace in her relationship with the Lord and was deeply comforted by the promise of eternal life. She spoke often of her Savior and was filled with anticipation and peace as she prepared to meet Him.
Faye was so special and will be truly missed. It’s rare to meet someone who truly puts others before themselves, but anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Faye would have no doubt she was one of them. After each interaction with Faye, she made sure you walked away smiling and with a full stomach. While her family grieves deeply, there is comfort in knowing that she is now exactly where she longed to be– face to face with her Savior, rejoicing in His presence.
Remaining to cherish Faye’s memory are her husband, Carroll Lyle; children, Dennis Lyle, Kevin Lyle and Kevin’s soulmate, Jewell Hancock; grandchildren, Ashley Hicks, Brittany Wright and her husband Sean, Aaron Lyle, Dawson Lyle, and Sawyer Lyle; great-grandchildren, Naomi Hicks, Raelynn Hicks, and Abigail Hicks; brother, Jerry Jones and his wife Leigh; sister, Nancy Horn; nieces and nephews, Whitney Jones, Jason Horn, Dwayne Brogan and his wife Deana, Adam Lyle and his wife Lindsey; and many other extended family members and those who became family through her love. Faye loved Jewell Hancock, who stood by our family and cared for her in her final days– we truly could not have done it without her.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Sam Jones and Louise Jones; sister, Ruby Brogan; nieces and nephews, Jeremy Jones, Dwight Brogan, and Laurie Crawford; and John Shotwell.
A celebration of life will be held on May 9, 2026, at the family home, 74 Coaling Road, Troutville. Faye wished to have everyone together to celebrate her life and spend quality time together. The celebration will be from 12-7 p.m.– please drop by at a time that works best for you.
