Sloan, Sheila Long

Sheila Marie Long Sloan, 72, of Lexington, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026.

She was born on May 28, 1953 to the late Estel and Edith Long. Also preceding her in death werre her brother, Larry Long; sister, Lottie Marshall Crawford; her beloved husband of 51 years, Duwayne “Wayne” Sloan; daughter, Sharon Lynn Sloan; and son, Kenneth “Kenny” Sloan.

Sheila was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and strength touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her deep love for her family and the care she gave so freely throughout her life.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her granddaughters, Shelly Sloan (Josh Dunaway) and Tiffany Sloan (Colton Dame); her grandson, Christopher Sloan and his wife, Ashley; her treasured great-grandchildren, Timber, Remington, and Kynsleigh Sloan, Waylon Dunaway, and Dominick and Jalissa Moreno. She is also survived by Tracey Sloan, mother of her grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings, George (Robert) Long and Sylvia Helmick; brother-in-law, Ralph Sloan (Agnes); special friend, Julie Jennings (John); as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

In honor of Shelia’s wishes, as she has been patiently waiting to be reunited with her husband, Duwayne; a dual visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2026 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home.  A Memorial Service to honor them both was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Rapps Mill Church with Pastor Jay Robinette.
