Hints of red, gold and yellow have arrived announcing the arrival of autumn and Buchanan’s 29th annual Mountain Magic In Fall Festival taking place this Saturday, Oct. 7. Buchanan welcomes visitors to explore the town’s historic Main Street, walk the Swinging Bridge, take “selfies” at the LOVE sign, comb through more than 120 vendor spaces filling the Town Park and see dozens of classic vehicles on display. Admission and parking for Mountain Magic In Fall Festival is free.
Sounds of bluegrass and the scent of barbecue, sausages, kettle corn and more will fill the air.
Festival hoodies and T-shirts in new colors feature the town’s most famous landmark – the Buchanan Swinging Bridge. They are available at the Special Events Committee Booth.
Mountain Magic vendors will be offering a little bit of something for everyone. Visitors will find apple butter, artisan soaps, fresh bouquets of flowers, pumpkins, beeswax products, original art, glass, farmhouse décor, hand-painted signs, wreaths, handmade jewelry, terrariums, handmade copper vessels, woodcrafts, cigar box guitars, plants, Scandinavian Tomtes, barn quilts, hand-carved wooden bowls, photography, hand-felted animals, crocheted items, quilts, bird houses, dried gourds, ceramics, country crafts, Christmas decorations and more at this year’s festival.
A full day of live bluegrass performances will be featured on Center Stage, including Rebecca Bryant, the Singing Cowgirl, Mill Creek Band, Barry & the Mudflaps, Blue Connection and the Virginia Carolina Band. Bring a lawn chair to sit and enjoy the day’s music being sponsored by Bank of Botetourt. Additional activities include the Heritage & Classic Auto & Tractor Show, the Children’s Playground, Children’s Maze and Art Wall.
Visitors are reminded to leave their pets at home. The crowded events create an environment that is not conducive to the four legged friends. All visitors are asked to adhere to this policy. Certified Service Dogs are allowed.
