Pattie Graybill Murray, 78, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 18, 2023, with her children by her side.
Pattie was born in Roanoke on October 21, 1944 to Eugene and Madelyn Graybill. She graduated from William Fleming High School and studied business at Virginia Southern College. Pattie met her husband, Richard Murray, at her sister Vivian’s wedding to Richard’s childhood best friend, and the two went on to marry on November 14, 1964.
Pattie’s heart was grounded in her love of God. Her faith was a light, whether she was delivering a Christmas meal and gifts to a needy family on Christmas Eve, opening her home any time of day or night to friends who needed a shoulder to cry on, praying for anyone she learned of who was suffering in some way, or making a new friend out of a stranger in line at the grocery store. Her faith was the foundation of the family’s home. With each move the family made, her first priorities were finding a house to turn into a loving home and finding a church home for the family. There were no days more joyful than the days her children and grandchildren developed their own relationships with God through Christ.
She loved being Mom and Grammy/Grandma, long days at the beach, cooking feasts for family and friends, traveling, and painting, as well as her jobs in banking, travel, human resources, and new home sales.
Pattie is survived by her husband, Richard Murray, of Alvarado, Texas; her children, Amanda Murray-Simpson of Roanoke, Texas, Julie (Byron) Forsythe of Tomball, Texas, Bryan (Heather) Murray of Perryton Texas, and Grant (Cammeo) Murray of Clear Lake, Texas; her grandchildren, Ross (Kirsten) Forsythe, Hope Forsythe, Haleigh Ward, Hannah Ward, Hayden Murray, Tyler Murray, Garrett Murray, and Charlotte Murray; her great-grandchildren, Leann Mundkowsky, Noah Forsythe, and Gemma Forsythe; her sister, Vivian (Randy) Mills; and nieces and nephews, Chris (Shelley) Bolt, Patrick Bolt, Robert (Kirsten) Murray, Todd (Tammy) Murray, Kay (Paul) Logan, and Andrew Hemm.
She will be missed dearly, and yet, we are all so grateful she is at peace, free of pain, and Home with those she missed and where we all look forward to seeing her again!
A celebration of Pattie’s life will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 I-45, The Woodlands, Texas. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
