Larry Emmett Nicely, 83, of Troutville, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023.
He was a machinist and worked for Ingersoll-Rand and Connex Pipe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Elsie Nicely; sister, Mabel; brothers, Dwight, Norman, and Buck. He loved caring for his wife and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, camping, and piddling in his workshop. Larry never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Daisy Ingram Nicely; sons, Larry (BooBoo) and Tanya Nicely, Johnny and Dreama Nicely; daughter, Elsie (Sissy) and Kevin Griffin; brothers, Ben and Linda Nicely, Phillip and Bonnie Nicely; sisters, Luana and Larry Sharp, Carol and Junior Sharp, and Beulah Teaford; sister-in-law, Henrietta Nicely; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Troutville Church of the Brethren, 5133 Lee Highway, Troutville with the Rev. Terry Johnson officiating.
