The All-Region 2C teams were recently announced and James River athletes were among the selections.
In baseball, River senior Hunter Mays was named to the All-Region first team. His younger brother, sophomore Jeremiah Mays, was a second team selection. Appomattox County swept the big honors as Michah Wilson was named Player of the Year and Jamie Terry is Coach of the Year.
In softball, two Knights made the All-Region 2C first team, junior Sydnee Breeding at shortstop and junior Ella Hutchens at first base. Second team honors went to junior Keira Crawford and sophomore Kaylee Harlow in the outfield. Appomattox also swept the softball honors with Player of the Year Paisley Mann and Coach of the Year Janet Rawes.
In girls soccer, River had three second team selections, Rhaya Kitt at forward, Sophia Martin at midfield and Vivian Vernon on defense. Chatham’s Delaney Haymore was Player of the Year and Kyleigh Drew of Glenvar is Coach of the Year.
The Knights had no All-Region players in boys soccer as three-time state champ Glenvar dominated with eight first team selections and three on the second team. Kian Fisher of Glenvar is Player of the Year and Josh Jones of the Highlanders is the Coach of the Year.
