Green Hill Park was the site of the annual Roanoke Area Youth Baseball Association tournaments last weekend and Botetourt had teams in all three age groups.
In the 10U age bracket the Salem team beat Vinton in the final game Sunday to win the championship. Botetourt’s team lost their opener to Salem, 5-1, then lost to North Roanoke and were eliminated.
In 12U the Botetourt team dropped their opener to Vinton, 9-3, but bounced back to beat Salem in extra innings, highlighted by a two-run homer by Wes Schuler in the bottom of the seventh. Botetourt then drew Glenvar and lost 9-8 to the eventual champion.
In the 15U bracket, there were only three teams, Botetourt, North Roanoke and Franklin County and Franklin County came out on top.
