River girls 2nd in ‘Polar Bear’ meet, Seibel, Hayes take 2nd places for LB

The Lord Botetourt and James River track teams competed in a “Polar Bear” meet at Blacksburg High School on January 27. There were 14 teams competing in the outdoor meet.

Pulaski County won the girls division while James River took second and LB was 11th. Katelyn Wiley was second in the 500 and third in the triple jump for James River and ran on the second place 4×200 relay team with Kerri Wiley, Cameron Hildebrand and Erin Walker.

The River 4×800 team of Abigail Link, Tessa Jones, Rachel Hicks and Catherine Amos took a third. Susan Schulz was third in the high jump.

For Botetourt, Claire Seibel was second in the 1,000 and Sofia Hernandez took fourth.

In the boys meet Blacksburg was the team winner while River was seventh and LB was 10th. William Fowler of River was third in the 1,000 and ran on the fourth place 4×200 relay team with Zach Hodges, Michael Hays and Erik Tolley.

LB’s Connor Hayes was second in the 3,200 and fourth in the 1,600.
