The James River golfers finished fourth in a six-team Three Rivers District match at the Giles Country Club Monday. Ryan Steger led the Knights with an 81.

Floyd won the round with a score of 316, followed by the host Spartans with 338. Radford was close behind at 344, followed by River at 370, Glenvar at 403 and Carroll County at 453.

Steger’s 81was the fourth best score of the day. Trevor Price of Radford led the field with a 78 and two Giles players, Logan Douthat and Walker Gillespie, both had 79.

River’s second best score was a 92 by Silas Miller. Joey Schroeder had 96 and Dylan Hicks had the final counting score at 101, one stroke better than Jake Braun.

“The Giles Country Club was playing pretty difficult and our golfers struggled,” said River coach Donna Cox. “I was most impressed with our freshman, Dylan Hicks, who is improving every week.”

The Knights will be at Great Oaks next, on Thursday of this week.
