The James River golfers will compete in the Region 2C tournament next Tuesday, September 27, after wrapping up the regular season on Thursday.

The tournament will be held at the Olde Mill Golf Resort in Laurel Fork, VA. Two teams will qualify for the State Tournament, and the top three individuals not on those teams will also be eligible.

River will conclude Thursday’s regular season with a match at the Botetourt Golf & Swim Club. The Knights will host Glenvar, Alleghany, and Pocahontas in a four-team match.

On Monday of this week, River closed out the Three River District season with a match at the River Course, hosted by Radford. Floyd County won the round, as they have in every district match this year, with a score of 316. Host Radford was second at 321, followed by Glenvar at 354, James River at 356, Carroll County at 349, and Alleghany at 374.

“I was hoping for a better outcome,” said River coach Donna Cox.

Ryne Bond of Floyd was the medalist with a score of 73. River’s best score was an 84 by Ryan Steger, followed by Dylan Hicks at 85. Also scoring for River were Sam Bell at 93 and Haden Parker at 94. Evan Mines had a 97, and Josh Krepps shot 105.
