It’s a slow week for the county golf teams as Lord Botetourt has just one match scheduled and James River is off after having two events postponed.
Lord Botetourt was scheduled to play in a Blue Ridge District match at the Copper Cove course on Tuesday of this week but results were too late for publication. Last week the Cavaliers played in a district match at the Ashley Plantation in Botetourt County.
The match at Ashley was a nine-hole event and Lord Botetourt won the round with a team score of 142. William Byrd was second at 147 followed by Northside at 150, Franklin County at 159 and Staunton River at 175.
Botetourt’s Alisa Davidova and Cole Cecil tied for medalist honors along with David Foster of William Byrd with 33 each. Also scoring for the Cavs were Eli Hall at 37, good for seventh individually, and Derek Bond and Jonah Dunker tied for the fourth spot with 39 each.
“As a whole we played really well at Ashley,” said LB coach Todd Smith. “We were able to cut Northside’s regular season lead down to five with three matches remaining. Hopefully we will keep gaining confidence and make a strong push towards the end of the year.”
James River had two matches postponed. Last week’s match at the Hanging Rock Golf Club in Roanoke County was postponed by weather and rescheduled for September 17 at 1 p.m. Monday’s match at Radford was also postponed and rescheduled for September 14.
