The Lord Botetourt tennis teams are scheduled to play in Region 3 West team competition this week. The girls were scheduled to open at Abingdon and the boys were headed to Western Albemarle.

Both teams as advanced as Conference 31 runners-up after reaching the tournament final. The opening round for both was scheduled for Tuesday, weather permitting, with the winner advancing to a site of the higher remaining seed.

Singles and doubles competition will be next week. For the girls, Abby Pearl and Reagan Bullins defeated the Alleghany duo to win the Conference 31 doubles championship. Pearl won her semifinal singles match against Rockbridge but lost to Alleghany in the finals.

The boys didn’t advance anyone to the singles or doubles tournament. Last week Caleb Beckner and Noah Bryant competed in the singles tournament at Southern Virginia University. Noah won the first round, but lost in the semis. Caleb lost his first round to the eventual winner of C31, Taylor Lane from Alleghany.

Caleb and Noah also played doubles and made it to the semis before losing to Rockbridge, one win away from a trip to the regional. Botetourt’s doubles team of Matt Manos and Jake Bryant lost in the first round to Northside.
