
Robert Hughes “Bobby” Tolley, Jr., 81, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at his residence.
He was born June 12, 1944 in Clifton Forge to the late Robert Hughes Tolley, Sr. and Hazel Elizabeth Barger. He was raised in the home of Clarence and Alma Walker. He was a retired train master for CSX Transportation for 39 years. He was a member of Grace Bible Church, Amsterdam, a member of the National Rifle Association, a former member of the Eagle Rock Jaycees, and a former member of Iron Gate Fire Department. Bobby loved to hunt and fish.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elva Freter; three brothers, John “J.T” Tolley, Richard Tolley and Raymond Tolley.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Seay Tolley of Roanoke; two daughters, Kristi Carter (Manuel) of Covington, Kala Dudley (Jacob Trent) of Salem; two sons, Robert Hughes “Rocky” Tolley, III (Andi) of Clifton Forge and Jason Tolley (Danielle) of Lexington; a brother, Herbert Nelson “Herb” Tolley of Maryland; 11 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service was held on Monday, January 5, 2026 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Pastor Jay Robinette officiating. The family received friends an hour prior to the service.
