Jerry Lawrence Wright, 68, of Fincastle, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025. surrounded by family and friends after a long illness.

Jerry was born April 18, 1957 in Radford, Va., and was preceded in death by his father, Garland Leo Wright; his mother, Emma Lee Richardson; brother, Garland Leo Wright, Jr.; and a baby sister. Jerry worked at Wachovia Bank for over 27 years and retired from Southern States after 10 years of service.

Jerry is survived by his soulmate and wife of 28 years, Brenda Farrell Wright; sister, Betty Jo Snyder and husband; Jimmy; brother, William (Bill) Wright and wife, Becky; special cousins, Caudill and Steve Wright; devoted nephew, Travis Snyder; special friend, Katherine Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Jerry was a loving and compassionate son, husband, sibling, uncle and friend. He also had a love for motorcycles. As a young adult, Jerry competed in motorcross racing and brought home several trophies. He had a Harley Davison Electric Glide, which he enjoyed riding in poker run rides for charity and participating in Bike Week at Myrtle Beach, S.C. He also enjoyed riding four-wheelers, especially taking his great-nieces for rides. He loved to dance. Along with woodworking and small engine repair, Jerry loved being outside – especially kayaking and swimming. Jerry could light up a room with his baby blue eyes, charming smile, and outgoing personality and he loved spending time with family and friends. Jerry will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on June 20, 2025 at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan. The Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, in the chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Harold Cook will be officiating. Interment will be private. Those wishing to send a condolence, please do so at www.botetourtfh.com.
