The first cross country meet of the season is scheduled for today at the Greenfield Recreation Complex in Daleville. Lord Botetourt and James River will host 23 other high school and middle school teams on the Greenfield course.
The first race begins at 4 p.m. and it’s a 3K girls’ middle school race. A boys’ 3K race will follow at 4:30 p.m., followed by a girls’ varsity 5K race beginning at 5 p.m. A boys’ 5k race is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. and the event will conclude with a combined jayvee boys and girls race at 6:15 p.m.
James River and Lord Botetourt High School teams will be included as well as runners from Botetourt County middle schools Read Mountain and Central Academy. Other schools attending include Appomattox High and Middle Schools, Auburn Middle, Benjamin Franklin Middle, Blacksburg Middle, Cave Spring High, Christiansburg Middle, Fort Chiswell, Hidden Valley High, James Breckinridge Middle, James Madison Middle, John P. Fishwick Middle, Maury River Middle, North Cross, Northside High, Patrick Henry-Glade Spring, Radford, Shelburne Middle, William Byrd High and Woodrow Wilson Middle.
