The James River golfers will have a Three Rivers District match on Thursday of this week at the Hanging Rock Golf Club, hosted by Glenvar. All seven district schools are expected to attend and a shotgun tee-off time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Last week the Knights competed in a match against Giles and Radford High Schools at the Giles Country Club in an “Old District Matchup” hosted by a former Three Rivers school. The Knights were on fire shooting a combined team score of 301. This was the first time any of the River golfers had ever played the Giles Country Club course.
Mason Gilliland led the team with an impressive six under par 65. Landon Bolling was on his heels with three under par, 68. Once again Braden Persinger was solid in the third spot, shooting a 76. Camden Saunders rounded out the top four with a season best 92.
“I was really impressed at how the team bounced back from a few adversities to beat Radford, who shot a 313, and Giles with a 327,” said River coach Donna Cox.
