- Robert “Bob” Haymaker, 87, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026.
Bob was born in Fincastle, the son of Luther R. and Mary E. Haymaker. He attended Fincastle High School after which he continued his education at the University of Virginia, graduating with a BA from the McIntire School of Commerce. While at UVA he was in ROTC and played freshman basketball. Upon graduation he entered the military intelligence division of the Army for three years, being honorably discharged as a Second Lieutenant. Once discharged from the military he started a 30-year distinguished career as a Special Agent with the FBI. Upon retirement he worked in the Security Division at Caesar’s Casino, Seaview Golf and Country Club and in his spare time did background checks for the FBI.
Bob will be sadly missed by his loving wife, best friend, and soulmate, Bonnie; sons, Robert Jay (Lannae), and Timothy; his loving grandchildren, Kylie (Paul), Courtney, and Dominick; his great-grandson, (Lil Paul) Reeve; his great-grandpuppy, Tate; his goddaughters, Jillian Sainsbury and Ella Madhok; and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, friends and colleagues.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther R. and Mary E. Haymaker; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne F. and Mary Haymaker, Donald E. and Penny Haymaker; and sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Ara Ayanian.
Bob enjoyed coaching baseball and basketball for his young boys, refereeing basketball, bowling, playing and watching golf and was a devoted University of Virginia, Dodgers and Green Bay Packers sports fan. He enjoyed tending to one of the best yards on his street and spending time at the Margate beach, often followed by a beer at the Greenhouse. Bob will be remembered for his service, dedication and love for his family.
Services were held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, February 16, at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, Northfield, N.J., and again on Tuesday, February 17, at 10 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church, Linwood, N.J., with a service immediately following at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors was in Friends Cemetery directly across the street from the church.
