The Lord Botetourt boys finished 13th among 41 teams at the Class 3 state track meet at Liberty University in Lynchburg last weekend. The Abingdon boys and Heritage girls won state championships.

The top eight in each event scored and LB finished with 18 points, as Abingdon won with 74 to win going away. Heritage and Maggie Walker were tied for second among the boys teams with 41 points each.

The top finish for LB was a runner-up in the 300 meter hurdles by Dylan Knick, who had a time of 41.72. The winning time was 40.92 by Kai Moore of Liberty Christian Academy. Knick was also eighth in the 110 hurdles in 17.80.

The LB 4×100-meter relay team took fourth in 43.70. That team was comprised of Joey Isaacs, Zion Woody, Knick and KJ Bratton. Their time was not only a season’s best but a new school record.

The LB girls did not score in the state meet. Their best finish was a ninth in the 100 hurdles by Maddie Malue, missing a medal by just one place.
