The Blue Ridge District golfers played a round at the Mariners Landing Country Club on the shores of Smith Mountain Lake last Thursday. Northside had the low score with a nine-hole 158 and Lord Botetourt was second at 161.
Jackson Taylor and Jonah Dunker tied for the low score for LB with 39 each. That was four strokes behind Northside’s Ryland Stump, who took medalist honors with a 35. Also scoring for LB were Cole Cecil at 41 and Derek Bond at 42.
Lord Botetourt’s team score of 161 was one stroke better than third place Franklin County at 162. William Byrd shot 173 and Staunton River had a 181. William Fleming had just two players on the course.
The Cavaliers were scheduled to host a district match at the Botetourt Golf & Swim Club on Tuesday of this week but results were too late for publication. The Cavs will be back in action next Tuesday, August 25, with a match at the Ashley Plantation beginning at 1 p.m.
